| Portland State University,
Portland, Oregon International Student Ministry Associate Staff are desired at Portland State University, a comprehensive urban university located in the city center. Currently it has an enrollment of 25,000 students including 1000 international students. The campus is primarily a commuter campus with 75% of students living in the surrounding metro area. The major focus of our ministry currently is toward international students studying at the university and other campuses in the surrounding area. We are looking for staff to work closely in this ministry as well as assisting new leadership coming to direct the American Chi Alpha ministry. Our international student ministry follows a unique collaborative model in conjunction with Baptist Student Ministries, Mission to the Amricas, Interface, Intervarsity and the Navigators. In addition to ministry with American students there is a strong international program that weekly meets with 150-200 international students from 66 nations. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with living in an urban environment, an organized self-starter, able to build relationships with students from many cultures, and committed to a ministry that is discipleship based. The ministry has a strong commitment to international missions. Staff must raise their budget before being able to begin work on campus. Candidate should have a Bachelors degree, completed RUI, campus CMIT internship, have or be in the process of applying for credentials as a Certified Minister, and be qualified for appointment as a National Missions Associate. Candidates may request evaluation of equivalent experience. This is an excellent opportunity for personnel transferring back to the US after serving overseas, and also for older candidates in a semi-retired role. For additional information please contact Vic Varis, the Chi Alpha Director for Oregon. |
